Coming Soon - The Horus Heresy: Fear To Tread Collector's Edition

As part of the ongoing plan to re-release the entire Horus Heresy saga in glorious doorstop-sized hardbacks, Black Library have rolled around to bringing my Blood Angels adventure Fear To Tread into the 'Collector's Edition' format.

Like the other books in the hardcover series, this new version of Fear To Tread comes with a author's afterword written by me and a bunch of new internal art by Wayne England to join Neil Roberts's awesome death-metal cover, and the book will be on sale very soon...

Since the earliest days of the Great Crusade, Sanguinius – angelic primarch of the IX Legion – was ever among the closest and most loyal of Horus’s brothers.

But the Blood Angels have long kept their true nature hidden from the rest of the Imperium, and when the Warmaster hints that the key to their salvation may lie in the ruins of a conquered world, the sons of Sanguinius race to claim it.

Now, as the revelation of their betrayal dawns and the traitors’ hand is revealed, the Blood Angels must face all the warp-spawned armies of Chaos, as well their own personal daemons, upon the blasted plains of Signus Prime...

Out Now - The Horus Heresy: Nemesis Unabridged Audiobook Edition

Nemesis is a novel that will forever have a special place in my heart; first and foremost, because it was the first thing I wrote that ever made it to proper "bestseller" status, breaking on to the New York Times book chart in August of 2010; but also because it's one of the most experimental novels in the Horus Heresy series and a work that represented a genuine challenge for me.

Set against the backdrop of a galactic insurrection, Nemesis a mix of black ops action-thriller and serial killer murder mystery, and it remains the most off-tempo of the books I've written for Black Library - and now if you so please, you can sit back and listen to just under fifteen hours of plot and counter-plot in this new unabridged audiobook version read by Jonathan Keeble.

After the horrors of Istvaan V, Horus declares outright war against the Imperium. In the shadows of the Emperor's Palace, powerful figures convene.

Their plan is to send a team of assassins to execute the arch-traitor Horus and end the war for the galaxy of mankind before it's even begun.

But what they cannot know is that another assassin is abroad already, with his sights firmly set on killing the Emperor.

You Are Hearing Me Talk...about Sisters of Battle with The Independent Characters

The folks over at The Indpendent Characters podcast talk in-depth and on-target about the worlds of Warhammer 40,000 and the Horus Heresy, and this week they invited me on to discuss one of my favorite 40K factions, the steadfast Sisters of Battle known as the Adepta Sororitas...

As part of my fiction for the Warhammer 40,000 franchise, I've written two novels and an audio drama featuring the Battle Sisters - Faith & Fire, Hammer & Anvil, Red & Black - and I have a lot of love for the nuns with guns.

Click Here to check out this episode of Show Of Force, where The Indpendent Characters crew unpack a 40K army in great detail, and you can listen to host Carl Tuttle interviewing me at the 2:47 mark

Incidentally; that awesome piece of Sororitas artwork I've used as a companion to this posting is the work of Nicholas Kay, and you shoud totally check out his portfoilo Here, or just click on the smaller image to see the full magnificence of "Massacre At Sanctuary 101" on his DeviantArt page.

You Are Hearing Me Talk... About STAR WARS on BBC Radio 5 Live

My buddy Adam Rosser presents a show about videogames and other cool stuff as part of BBC Radio 5 Live's Joy Of Tech, and with all the news about the Star Wars saga breaking big it would have been remiss of him not to cover the Galaxy Far Far Away...

And so, Adam recruited Gav Murphy - games journalist and co-host of IGN's Star Wars webshow Rebel Base - and myself - a writer of stuff, some of which has been about the GFFA - to spend some 20 minutes picking over the trailers for The Force Awakens, season two of the Rebels animated series, Rogue One, the new Battlefront game and talking about the future of the saga.

Despite being on cold meds, I nevertheless joined Gav and Adam to enthuse greatly about Star Wars, and you can hear us Here.

Get Deus Ex: Fallen Angel For Free!

A big thank-you to everyone out there for your enthusiasm following the announcement of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided! If you haven't already seen the awesome announcement trailer, take a look Here!
fallenangel
To reiterate, I am indeed involved once again in the writing on this blockbuster game, and very proud to be so. I've also had a lot of people asking me if I'll be writing another Deus Ex tie-in novel as I did with Icarus Effect back in 2011 (which, I hasten to add, is still available in all good bookstores in UK, US, Hungarian, Italian and German editions...)

But to answer the question - I can't confirm anything right now; however, I will say we are in discussions about future fiction ideas under the Deus Ex Universe banner, so stay tuned!

In the meantime, you can click Here to download a free digital ebook of my novella Deus Ex: Fallen Angel directly from Eidos Montreal!

Fallen Angel is a short prequel centred on the popular character of Faridah Malik, who acts as Adam Jensen's VTOL pilot in Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and this story tells how she came to be in the employ of Sarif Industries at the start of DX:HR; the story also ties into the "Shanghai Justice" mission from later in the game.

The Horus Heresy: Knight Errant box set - Out this month!

A few weeks back I talked about the digital release of Ashes of Fealty, the latest Horus Heresy audio story in the saga of Nathaniel Garro - and now there's a new way to get the adventures of Garro in the form of Knight Errant, a complete 8-disc box set featuring all of his adventures to date...

The Horus Heresy has seen many heroes rise and fall, and few have risen higher than Nathaniel Garro. A scion of the XIV Legion, the Death Guard, Garro came to prominence after his dramatic escape from the battle on Isstvan III that doomed so many Imperial loyalists to death (in The Flight of the Eisenstein).

Recruited by Malcador the Sigillite as his Agentia Primus, he gather warriors who might just change the course of the Horus Heresy – or the Imperium itself.

Long has been the road of Nathaniel Garro. After surviving the treachery of Isstvan III and the terror of his escape aboard the Eisenstein, he has become a paragon of loyalty and protector of the innocent. Whilst his Death Guard brothers faltered and fell, his belief in Emperor and Throne remained true.

For his charge is a most sacred one, given unto him by none other than Malcador the Sigillite, to recruit the Knights Errant and lay the foundation for a secretive order dedicated to the eradication of Chaos.

The set includes the audio dramas Oath of Moment, Legion of One, Sword of Truth, Shield of Lies, Burden of Duty and Ashes of Fealty - that's seven hours of action along with downloadable artwork and wallpapers by Neil Roberts, and full PDFs of every production script.

To order the Knight Errant box set, visit the Black Library website Here.

Embrace What You Have Become - Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is coming..

Back in October of 2013, I told the world that I was part of the writing team working on the next installment of the Deus Ex game franchise; and in the year and a half since then, as things have progressed, there hasn't been much I could officially say.

From today, that starts to change. It gives me great pleasure to show off this awesome reveal trailer for the newest iteration of the Deus Ex Universe - two years have passed since the shattering conclusion of Human Revolution, and Adam Jensen is about to enter the world of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided...

The Listeners - Judge Dredd Crime Chronicles: Double Zero

Each month, the folks who create the excellent audio dramas at Big Finish Productions run an open participation discussion called The Listeners, in which they discount a play for download and ask the audience to weigh in with their opinions...

April's Listeners title is one of mine - Double Zero, an entry in the Judge Dredd: Crime Chronicles series starring Toby Longworth as Dredd, and Doctor Who's Louise Jameson as Psi-Judge Cassandra Anderson from the pages of the Galaxy's Greatest Comic 2000AD! The story will be available at just £2.99 on digital download until the end of the month.

Double Zero: on the Mills-Wagner scale of psychic potentiality, this rating is ranked as the lowest possible level of human telepathic receptability and/or psionic ability. [See also: mind-blind; mundane; pariah effect, brain burn] - Excerpt from the Justice Department Psi-Division Operations Manual.

When a strange premonition draws Psi-Judge Cassandra Anderson to her fellow law officer Joe Dredd, what begins as an inkling of something sinister soon becomes a matter of life and death.

With telepathic secret agents from a dozen city-states infiltrating the Big Meg in search of a psychic weapon called 'the pariah', Anderson and Dredd find themselves in a race against time to save the life of an innocent child - with the power to start a war.

You can download a digital copy of Judge Dredd: Crime Chronicles - Double Zero by clicking Here; also, check out the latest issue of Big Finish's free magazine Vortex, which features a short interview with me about the play, or take part in the discussion about the story at this dedicated thread over on the BF forums...

All That Remains - New Horus Heresy eBook out now!

The Imperial Truth was a limited edition Horus Heresy anthology released in back in 2013, just 2000 hardcover copies available at special events and the like; but now the stories have been re-released for a wider audience in eBook form, and that includes a tale by me called All That Remains.

The blurb says:

As Horus’s rebellion consumes the galaxy, the dead number in the billions – far greater, however, are the countless casualties evacuated from front line duties to tend their wounds and someday return to the fight. On one particular vessel cast adrift in the warp, a handful of ragged Imperial Army soldiers make a startling discovery, and the question of why so many more of their comrades have been lost is soon answered...

Get ready for a mystery like no other. A derelict ship harbouring sick and dying men gets caught up in a secret mission straight from the Emperor's right hand man, Malcador, to create a new army to save the Imperium. Too bad the citizens on board don’t know that. This story is a fascinating revelation about the birth of the Grey Knights and exactly how the seeds of their Chapter were sown.

You can pick up a digital copy of All That Remains right Here or just go all in and grab the full Imperial Truth eBook collection Here.
